OLYMPIA, Wash.-  Visiting Oregon Tech scored a goal in each half Friday to defeat The Evergreen State College 2-0 in a Cascade Collegiate Conference women's soccer match played at Geoduck Pitch.

The Owls (7-5-0 overall, 5-2-0 CCC) moved into second place in the conference standings after getting goals from Hailey Satyna in the 40th minute and Ellie Querciain the 83rd minute. The Oregon Tech defense limited the Geoducks to just four shots as Megan Green recorded the shutout in goal.

Head Coach Brandon Porter on his team's win, "We got the result we were looking for against an Evergreen team that showed a lot of heart. Coach Morris had his kids fighting hard but fortunately we did enough to get the 3 points we needed.  Proud of our ladies for gutting it out, and now we get to shift our focus to a Northwest team that is starting to pick up momentum."

Evergreen, playing with a reduced roster because of a rash of recent injuries, stayed tough against the Owls through the first third of the match before Satyna put her team on the board with a 35-yard shot that eluded Geoducks keeper Emily Sorenson. The half ended that way, and with Oregon Tech having a 6-1 advantage in shots.

The insurance goal came on a nicely worked attack down the right flank. Abigail Herbert laid off a pass to Bailey Whitehurst, and her first-time cross found Quercia in the box, and Querica did not miss from close range.

Maddie Lockwood put Evergreen's shot on goal, but other than that the home team had trouble breaking down the Oregon Tech defense.

Both teams are in action tomorrow, Evergreen hosting Southern Oregon and Oregon Tech playing against Northwest University in Kirkland.
