Changes coming to Klamath Falls News

Benjamin Franklin is known for many things, including a quote, “…but in this world, nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes.” I agree with Mr. Franklin, but another thing to consider is that “change is inevitable.”

Many changes have come to my personal life over the last year. Over the holiday, I have had a chance to reflect on those changes and what is most important to me.

Letter to the Editor: Support OUR Museums

Letter to the Editor: Support OUR Museums

Letter to the Editor by, William Ganong, Klamath Falls
It is not surprising that to Representative Eric Werner Reschke the Klamath County Museums are just good museums. Representative Werner was born in California and raised, educated, and worked most of his life in the Portland/Willamette Valley area. It wasn’t until he started his political career that he moved to Klamath County. He has no roots in Klamath County, no appreciation of the true value of our museums.

Commentary: Advocating for Rural Health Care

Commentary by, E. Werner Reschke, State Representative of Oregon, House District 55
We have concluded the 4th week of 22 weeks in the long legislative session of 2023. With a new House Speaker & Senate President, both chambers seem to be moving at a slightly slower pace than with previous sessions. This extra time is good, as it allows legislators, the media and the public to better keep up with what is happening and give their opinions on various bills.

Editorial: Business as Usual

Editorial: Business as Usual

Editorial by, Brian Gailey, Publisher Klamath Falls News

I love Klamath Falls. I highly appreciate the small-town charm versus the hustle and bustle of big-city life. I prefer small mom-and-pop boutiques over large box chains and Main Street rather than Wall Street.

However, there is one thing I do not like about small-town life and that is the ease with which rumors run rampant in the community. Recently, Klamath Falls News and its family of brands have fallen victim to such rumors.

The last release from this office concerning Ballot Measure 114 and implications to lawful firearms owners was almost a month ago. We have not issued more public updates due to the ever-changing stream of confusing and inaccurate information and the unfortunate fact that no clear answers were available.

Klamath County Residents,
Organized Crime; that is what we are up against. The laws of Oregon are specific when they define that term and it includes two or more individuals conspiring to engage in criminal activity as a significant source of income or to aid or abet the violation of criminal laws; to include cannabis production and distribution.

Commentary: Omicron variant surge is here, let’s be proactive

Commentary by, Jennifer Little, Director of Klamath County Public Health

We are in an interesting period of the pandemic. The quarantine or isolation period is five days and in most cases it takes more than five days to receive test results.

What should a person do? One of the most important things we can all do is stay home if we are sick. If you suspect you have COVID-19, stay home for five days. Some people might experience fever longer than five days; they should be fever-free for 24 hours before leaving home.

Letter to the Editor: Laudable Parks Advisory Board

Letter to the Editor by, Kate Murphey, Klamath Falls
I had the opportunity to sit in on the two Park Advisory Board meetings dealing with the issue of renaming Kit Carson Park. The members of the Advisory Board serve as volunteers and I suspect they never anticipated being put in the middle of a difficult political situation. However, the members did accept this assignment.
