Klamath Falls, OR – Today [10/10/18], the United States Senate voted 99-1 to pass the America’s Water and Infrastructure Act of 2018 (AWIA), which includes provisions that are vital to Klamath Project water users. The bill (S. 3021) passed in the House of Representatives by unanimous vote on September 13th and now will be sent to the President for his signature.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Representative Greg Walden (R-Hood River) has secured relief for Oregon farmers and ranchers who suffered severe losses after wildfires in Wasco and Sherman counties. In a letter to Representative Walden today, Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue said the agency was authorizing Walden’s request to grant emergency grazing to local ranchers and flexibility for wheat producers whose crop was impacted by the wildfires.

Judge Sides with Defendants in Klamath ESA Litigation

Klamath Falls, OR – Yesterday, a federal district court judge for the northern district of California denied a motion for preliminary injunction brought by the Klamath Tribes. The tribe’s request for preliminary injunction asked for higher lake levels in Upper Klamath Lake until a new ESA consultation is complete for two species of suckers that are listed as endangered. The preliminary injunction would have required an immediate halt to irrigation water deliveries in the Klamath Project.
