5 Miles northwest of Chiloquin, Oregon the Agency 2 Fire burned. The fire was first reported Wednesday afternoon at just 3.5 acres in the Chiloquin Ranger District. Fuels include dense lodgepole, snags, and heavy dead and downed material.

The fire grew to 5 acres overnight.

Siting firefighter safety, Fire Managers made the decision to fight fire with fire. Firing operations were used as a direct attack method to control the spread of the fire, keeping the perimeter of the fire within the containment area.

Firing operations were completed Thursday, November 15, 2018, keeping the fire to 25 acres. Smoke will continue to be visible from ORE 62 as areas within the perimeter burn.

According to the South Central Oregon Fire Management Partnership, this is the 7th human caused fire in the Chiloquin area since the end of Fire season.
