HAVRE, Mont. – With two 11-2 runs in the first half, the University of Providence (5-1) pulled ahead of Oregon Tech (8-2) and held the lead to the end of the game, dealing the Owls their second loss of the season, 96-80.

"Providence is one heck of a team," said  Head Coach Justin Parnell. "They're athleticism and quickness gave us a lot of problems. For us to start winning road games we have to start keeping guys in front of us, playing a bit tougher and playing with a little more maturity on offense."

The lead changed seven times in the first half before the Argos pulled ahead, starting into the second half with an 8-point advantage, 56-48. The second half saw Providence take a 16-1 run to solidify their lead.

The Owls played hard, with junior Seth Erickson taking in 16 points and grabbing 9 rebounds. Sophomore Harrison Steiger had 12 points, while junior Mitchell Fink and freshman Matt Van Tassell each brought 10.

OIT led in bench points, bringing in 31 to UP's 24. Tech also had 18 turnovers compared to 14 from Providence.

Brandon Cotton of the Argos had 24 points for game high honors, with four other players bringing in double-digit scores.

The Argos shot with a 56.9% average to the Owls 46.9% and also made 9 of 18 from long range to Tech's 29% average.

Oregon Tech will remain in Havre, Montana this weekend to play Montana State University-Northern on Saturday at 5:00 pm.
