Cody Johnson to Headline 2018 Klamath County Fair (LIVE)

The Klamath County Fair Board is proud to welcome independent recording artist Cody Johnson to the Klamath County Fair August 2, 2018.

Recently named on the “2018 Country Artists to watch” list, this independent touring powerhouse SOLD OUT more than half of his headline shows in 2017 from California to Georgia.” MOREOVER, with over 127 million streams in twelve months, he ended 2017 as the most streamed independent Country Act of 2017 behind former major label/now indie superstars Garth Brooks, Jewel and The Dixie Chicks.

“I got a lot of ‘Who is this kid?’” Johnson says with a laugh two years later. “I love that. That was a new horizon. And I’m gonna work to make sure people know exactly who I am.”

The buzz surrounding Johnson has been spreading like a firestorm since the release of his critically acclaimed album GOTTA BE ME, which reached the number one spot on the iTunes Country album chart and the number two spot on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart. Just recently, Cody broke the record as the only unsigned artist in history to sell out at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo at NRG Stadium, with over 74,000 tickets sold. “I don’t want to be a blemish on country music,” Cody says. “I don’t want to be a dot. I’d like to be a mark.”

The Klamath County Fair Board is excited to offer this concert to our community during the Klamath County Fair on August 2, 2018 in the John Hancock Event Center Pavilion. Party Zone tickets will go on sale May 14, 2018 for $20.00 each. This ticket includes entry into the Fair on Thursday the 2nd, as well as into the Party Zone at the Concert. There will be one show on Thursday evening beginning at 7:00 PM ~ the doors will open at 6:00 PM. Tickets may be purchased on line @ www.kcfairgrounds.org, in person at the Fair Office, or in person at Coastal Farm and Ranch in Klamath Falls.

Cody brings a smoky baritone and ultra-southern blend of barroom experiences mixed with melodic and rhythmic sensibilities. His show is intense, focused, and sincere. When he takes the stage, there’s a Garth-like conviction to his performances. Johnson inhabits the songs, recreates their emotions because they are so familiar. By the time the 14-track journey is over, he’s shared his rodeo history in “The Only One I know (Cowboy Life),” demonstrated his woman’s influence in “With You I am” and paid homage to his gospel heritage in “I Can’t Even Walk.”
