Henley Cheer Wins State

Congrats to the Henley High School Cheer Team on their OSAA 4A Cheerleading State Championships. With a score of 181.80 Henley won the competition just edging out second place Newport who had a score of 181.10. 

The Oregon State Athletic Association (OSAA) held the annual state cheerleading competition in Portland at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum yesterday, February 10, 2018. Where Henley put the sting to eleven other 4A schools to come out on top. 

Henley now qualifies for the USA Spirit Nationals Competition held in Anaheim, Calif. on February 23-25, 2018 at the Anaheim Convention Center. "It's so exciting," stated Paddy Kuhn. "California rules are different than Oregon so their routine will be different. They [Henley Cheer] have to make all the changes this week, pretty intense but so rewarding aw well." 

Members of the 2018 Henley Cheer Team include:

  • Seniors - Hailey Banks, Hayley Dolan, Natalie Bruner* 
  • Juniors - Danielle Herinckx, Elle Overstreet, Kyndall Felsinger*
  • Sophmores - Ashley Henry, Chloe Nicosia, Hannah Caster, Railey Herren, Sammi Quintana
  • Freshmen - Kelsie Felsinger, Lexi Dolan
    *Selected to All-State Team

Coaching Staff:

  • Assistant Coaches: Elise Rico, Paulette Rico
  • Choreographers: Tara Mahoney, Aubrey Rico

According to OSAA State Championship Archive, this is Henley's second State Cheer Championship but first as an all girls team. Henley won state coed championship in 2002 and took second in 2003.

A video provided to Klamath Falls News from Paddy Kuhn shows the routine themed "Infinity and Bee-yond" that Henley performed to win the State Championship.
