PORTLAND, Ore. – No. 24 Oregon Tech (13-4, 4-1 CCC) pulled off a 10-2 run to end the game to secure a 93-87 victory over Multnomah University (9-5, 2-2 CCC) in Portland on Jim Skagen Court Saturday night.
"Great effort from our guys tonight on the road," said Head Coach Justin Parnell. "Justin Martin is an incredible offensive player and a perfect fit for their system. Our game plan was not let their other guys get going and we did that. Very proud of our veterans tonight and the way they played down the stretch. I also thought Coach Poetsch made a great adjustment for us offensively that led to some big points for us down the stretch.”
After OIT led off the game with a 7-2 run, the Lions managed to pull ahead with an 11-0 run of their own in the first half. The score fluctuated through the rest of the game, with Tech managing to secure a 10-2 to end the game with the win.
Junior Tyler Hieb led off the final run with two three pointers, bringing him to a total of 25 points – of which 21 were from 3 pointers - to lead Oregon Tech. Sophomore Garret Albrecht tallied a career high 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to earn a double-double.
For MU, Justin Martin scored 42 points, taking game high and nearly half the points for Multnomah. Ben Grandle tallied 14 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to earn a double-double.
OIT played as a team, taking a 27-14 advantage from their bench and 23 assists to the Lions 12.
Tech also led 49-38 in rebounding and forced 17 turnovers while only committing 12 of their own.
