KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – The Oregon Tech men's soccer team will be headed to the Cascade Conference tournament for a school record third straight year and the Owls know it's win or go home.
The CCC Tournament, presented by U.S. Bank, is set to take place at the Willamalane Complex in Springfield, Ore. OIT is the No. 8 seed in the tournament, and is slated to take on No. 1-seeded Southern Oregon University at 5 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon. Southern Oregon University finished the year 14-2-2 overall, and 11-0-2 in conference. This marks the third-straight year that the Owls have competed in the CCC Tournament Quarterfinal
"It is very exciting to be in the CCC tournament for the third year in a row," said Head Coach Matt Munhall. "We have a senior heavy team that has yet to win a game in the postseason during their career. I know they have different goals for themselves this go around. With that said, we have a big uphill battle coming our way having to play #1 seed SOU in the first round. If I have ever had a group that plays the underdog role well it is these men. We are not intimidated by any of the teams in the CCC and really feel like we have a chance at winning against any opponent. It will all come down to who shows up and who executes on game day."
The winner of the tournament will earn the second automatic qualifier to the NAIA Championships that begin with opening rounds on Nov. 17. In the event the number one seed Southern Oregon is also the tournament champion, the second AQ will go to the runner-up. Live video and stats available at www.oregontechowls.com
