KCC Welcomes Dr. Michael Flores, Dean of Instruction

KLAMATH FALLS – Klamath Community College is pleased to announce the college’s new dean of instruction, Dr. Michael Flores.

Flores has more than 24 years of experience working in community colleges, including 18 years as a history professor at Cypress College in Cypress, Calif.

“Dr. Flores will provide leadership and administrative oversight to faculty and staff in a variety of instructional areas and will maintain KCC’s high academic standards,” said KCC President Dr. Roberto Gutierrez. “His enthusiasm for education will be an asset to KCC programs, and ultimately, KCC students.”

As dean of instruction, Flores will supervise developmental, general, and distance education. He will also work with academic departments and faculty to evaluate curricular recommendations and program expansion in order meet the diverse needs of students in the community.

Flores earned a master’s certificate in school district governance through the California School Boards Association and a doctorate in instructional leadership from Argosy University.
Most recently, he worked as a professor of history at North Orange County Community College in Anaheim, Calif. He also served on the Ontario-Montclair School District board of trustees.

“My life’s work as an educator has been to positively impact students through my passion of studying the social relationships in human society via economics and politics. I want to bring this passion to KCC,” Flores said.

Flores has served on various organizations, including the Academic Senate and the Faculty Association for California community colleges, the California Latino School Boards Association, the San Bernardino County School Boards Association and held offices in the California Employees Association, and the California Teachers Association.
