Modoc NF Seeks OHV Grant Application Input

ALTURAS, Calif. - The US Forest Service is seeking public comments on preliminary applications to the State of California Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Division (OHMVR) for the 2017/2018 grant cycle. A public review and comment period for the State Grants and Cooperative Agreement Program runs March 6 - April 2, 2018.  Public input is requested in the fund allocation process.

The three OHV grant application proposals can be viewed through the California internet-based “On-line Grant Application” (OLGA) software. After the public review and comment process, a final application will be submitted by May 7, 2018. Interested Individuals may view and comment on the preliminary applications by visiting the State Grants and Cooperative Agreements Programs website at www.ohv.parks.ca.gov and selecting the “Grants” tab. The OHMVR Division website will provide further detailed instructions for accessing applications and submitting comments. 

Modoc National Forest submitted three OHV grant proposals to sustain OHV recreation opportunities. The grant proposals include forest-wide signage improvements, maintenance of low-standard roads that serve as off-highway vehicle routes, maintenance and improvements to Doorknob Snowmobile Staging Area, and support to the Bald Mountain Restoration Project - a planning and implementation effort in the Warner Mountains.
