Oregon State Police Investigating Unattended Death of Missing Woman from Beatty
On Sunday April 8, 2018, the Oregon State Police conducted a death investigation in relation to a crash, which occurred on Friday April 6, 2018. The registered owner, Debra Rose Dougan (age 60 from Beatty) was found deceased in a field. Dougan had no signs of visible injures nor were there any suspicious circumstances discovered.
The preliminary investigation revealed on April 6, 2018 at approximately 8:00PM, witnesses reported a light colored pickup driving erratically eastbound on Highway 140 near milepost 28 in rural Klamath County. The vehicle was weaving and nearly hit one of the witnesses head on. A few minutes later, the witnesses reported the vehicle left the roadway near milepost 36 and became stuck. The witness, who had followed the vehicle, described an adult female, who appeared to be intoxicated, exit the white Toyota Tacoma and she walked away from the vehicle.
Medic personnel and OSP arrived on scene approximately 40 minutes later. They searched the area and they were unable to locate the female. OSP learned the registered owner was Dougan, went to her residence, and no one was at the residence. OSP continued to check surrounding residences and the crash area and were unable to locate Dougan.
On Sunday, April 8, 2018 at approximately 5:15PM, OSP received information from a friend of Dougan that she has been missing since April 6th. OSP and the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office were responding back to the crash site when the friend called back and reported they had found Dougan. Dougan was located, deceased, some distance away from the residence in a field.
The cause and manner of her death is unknown and the investigation is ongoing. The Oregon State Police were assisted by the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office, Klamath County District Attorney’s Office, Bonanza and Sprague River Volunteer Fire Departments.
