Highlights from the week's Recreation Report

Controlled hunt draw results

The countdown begins. Draw results will be available no later than June 20. Earlier if we can. You can check your results here.

It’s a great time for trout fishing

Air and water temperatures are starting to heat up – and both fish and anglers are getting more active. This week, 40 waterbodies throughout the state will be stocked with hatchery trout. Half will get bigger, trophy-size fish in addition to legal-size. Check out the zone reports and pick a place to fish this weekend.

Bass and other warmwater fishing is heating up

Smallmouth bass on the John Day or Umpqua rivers, walleye on the upper Columbia, bluegill on Empire Lakes, largemouth bass on Tenmile Lakes, crappie on Gerber and Willow Creek reservoirs – take your pick! There are great warmwater fisheries in every corner of the state. You’ll find fishing updates in the zone reports.

Free family fishing events

The whole family is invited to free fishing events this Saturday at Prineville Reservoir, Prineville and Cleawox Lake, Florence. We’ll provide the gear and instruction you need from baiting the hook to landing the fish. Find details for both events here.

Spring Chinook ain’t over yet

Anglers are still finding fair to good fishing for spring Chinook from the Oregon Coast to the northeast corner of the state. Check out reports for the Nestucca, Siletz, Trask, Rogue, Clackamas, North Fork Santiam, Hood and Umatilla rivers.
