Road Construction Report for the Week of June 11, 2018

Road construction season is in full swing. Please remember to slow down for flaggers and construction zones. 

 

City of Klamath Falls Public Works

Asphalt Crews:
Minor street repairs within the city and county roadways that will include mastic/crack sealing on Benson Avenue from Tiffany to Fairmont, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. The 6th Street bridge joints will be addressed on Tuesday. There will be lane restrictions with traffic controls in place.

Sign/Paint Crews:
Installing new signs and replacing and repairing damaged signs throughout the city.

Weather permitting Paint Crews will be painting crosswalks, arrows and curbs from 4:00am to 7:00am at Washburn Way. On South 6th Street from 7:30am to 2:00pm. Crews will be working on the turn pockets on 6th Street, Avalon, Austin, Klamath Avenue, Main Street and Esplanade. Lane restrictions and detours will be in place. 

Capital Projects
On June 12, 2018 from 7:00am to 5:00pm Intermountain Slurry Seal will be doing warranty repairs to the microsurfacing on Shasta Way between Austin and South 6th Streets. There will be some delays in traffic movement. Please choose alternate routes if at all possible. 

2018 Microsurfacing Project: On Monday June 11, 2018 roadway microsurfacing will take place on the following streets:

  • Grant St. between North 8th and North 10th
  • 6th Street between Main and Lincoln Streets
  • 4th Street between Pine and Lincoln Streets
  • 2nd Street between Pine and Jefferson Streets
  • Cedar Street between Pine and High Streets
  • Biehn Street

There will be road closures and detours. All local residents have been notified. 


Klamath County Public Works

Klamath County will have work crews at the following locations.  Please use caution when in these areas and watch for flaggers.  If you are able to avoid these work zones, please use alternate routes for your safety and the safety of Klamath County employees.

Skinny Patch (Asphalt)

  • Dead Indian Memorial Road
  • Pelican Butte Road
  • Rocky Point Road

 Crack Seal

  • Bellm Drive
  • Dead Indian Memorial Road
  • Keller Road
  • Old Midland Road
  • Pelican Butte Road
  • Rocky Point Road

Paint Striping

  • Dehlinger Lane
  • Hill Road
  • South of Town cross roads
  • Railroad Crossings (County Wide)

In general, flagging stations will be set up at the end of the work zone and delays will be 0-20 minutes for the motoring public.  Other minor work is occurring through the County but we are only listing the major items in this announcement. 

There may be adjustments of work schedules due to weather or other items outside of the County’s control (breakdown of equipment, material/resource availability, etc.)  Please do not contact the County if you do not see work occurring, it could be finished already or will be rescheduled.

Oregon Department of Transportation

US 97 Link River Bridge Northbound Connection
The US 97 Link River Bridge northbound off-ramp is open to traffic. Crews will be doing minor shoulder clean-up. No delays are expected.

OR 140: Buck Creek Bridge
Marcum & Sons Construction is beginning work to replace the Buck Creek Bridge (MP 22). Traffic will be controlled by a temporary signal and limited to a single lane. Work will take place Monday through Friday during daytime hours. Drivers can expect delays up to 10 minutes.

OR 240: Greensprings Interchange to Klamath Falls/Malin Hwy
Rocky Mountain Construction will be completing shoulder work and installing signs. Minor delays are expected. 

US 97: Algoma Road to Miller Island Road
Rocky Mountain Construction will be completing paving and should work between MP 265 and 267. Work will take place at night, Sunday through Thursday from 7pm to 7am. Delays up to 20 minutes are expected.

US 97: Spring Creek Hill to Modoc Point
Rocky Mountain Construction will be surveying and completing shoulder work. No delays are expected
