WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SISKIYOU MOUNTAINS AND SOUTHERN OREGON CASCADES

Yet another low pressure system will move in from the north tonight into Thursday bringing snow to most of the area. Snow will arrive from northwest to southeast late tonight/early Thursday morning.

See the timelines in the graphic. Once again, the highest accumulations are likely to occur in the mountains, but also the passes along Interstate 5.

A burst of snow during the morning commute could also cause a period of reduced visibility and slippery, snow covered roads over the west side valleys. So, be prepared for wintry travel conditions and be sure to check road conditions before venturing out.

Another cold night is expected Thursday night into Friday morning. The two big wildcards with the temperature forecast are cloud cover and snow cover.

We are forecasting the sky to become mostly clear Thursday night. But, if clouds remain, low temperatures could be several degrees higher. Also, many areas will have fresh snow cover Thursday morning.

Where it doesn’t melt, Friday morning could be colder, especially if skies clear.  Either way, make efforts to protect pipes and any sensitive vegetation. Also, don’t forget about pets! A good rule is that if it’s too cold for you, it’s too cold for them. Bring them in for the night or make sure they have safe, adequate shelter.
