State Official Visits STEM&M

Mazama students show how program is helping them prepare for the future Gov. Kate Brown has a vision for Oregon students: they finish high school with a plan in mind for their future.

On a recent visit to Mazama High School, Oregon Department of Education Acting Deputy Superintendent of Public Instruction Colt Gill said he saw STEM&M students fulfilling Brown’s
vision.

“It was clear to me that STEM&M was not only helping them stay engaged in high school as they worked toward graduation, but was also introducing them to a number of future possibilities from coding, to medical imaging, to dental hygiene careers,” Gill said in an email reflecting on his visit. “This program is meeting the Governor’s vision for Oregon’s students and will serve to make Oregon stronger in the future.”

The Klamath County School District Honor Band, featuring students from Chiloquin, Henley, and Mazama high schools, will be performing a concert on Wednesday, November 15th at 7pm at the Ross Ragland Theater under the direction of guest conductor Dr. Martin Behnke. The concert is free to the public.

Vikings and Hornets Win Round 1 Playoffs

Cross town and conference rivals, Henley and Mazama were victorious tonight in their match ups. #4 Mazama hosted #13 South Umpqua and won a defensive struggle in the snow. Shutting out the Lancers, 12-0. #12 Henley traveled to #5 Seaside and won a shoot out with a 99 yard drive. Securing a 43-39 victory.

Mazama will now host Henley in a second round playoff match-up on November 10th at Viking Field. Mark your calendars now. The road to the championship game runs through Klamath Falls!

Mazama Tops 4A Skyline Conference

At the beginning of the night the Skyline had a 3-way tie for first place. By the end of the night, there was still a 3-way tie for first place, as all thee teams won their games.

  • The Mazama Vikings beat North Valley tonight 54-6.
  • Henley earned a victory tonight over Hidden Valley 56-6.
  • Phoenix triumphed over Klamath Union 40-19.

However, the Mazama Vikings ultimately come out on top as 4 time conference champions. As they had beaten the Phoenix Pirates on the road earlier this season. Phoenix takes second as they had beaten Henley at home earlier this season.

KFN Game of the Week - Canal Bowl 2017: Klamath Union vs Mazama

Klamath Falls, Ore. - The 2017 rendition of the Canal Bowl did not disappoint - conference play, homecoming, female kickers, all elevated a rowdy cross town rivalry.  

Both teams started the game of slowly but KU led at half and Mazama found its self trailing at home 12-6. 

Halftime featured the annual Homecoming Ceremony and a performance of Thriller by the Mazama Marching Band.
