Oregon Tech Men's Golf Named CCC "Team of the Week"

LA GRANDE, Ore. –The Oregon Tech men's golf team has been named the "Team of the Week" for September 11-17, the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday.

The Owls hosted the first CCC tournament of the 2017-18 season at the Running Y course in Klamath Falls, Ore., in record setting fashion.

As a team Oregon Tech combined for a three round total of 844 strokes and outdistanced runner-up Corban University by twenty strokes. The number supplants the old CCC record of 847 which has stood for a decade and was shot by former member Concordia in 2017. OIT's Tyler Franke won medalist honors with his three round total 205 (68, 68, 69) just out pacing team mate Houston Knox who fired a final round 67 for a three round total of 209, 7 under par.

Franke's 205 total is now tied for second all-time in the Cascade Conference. No other golfer has hit the 205 or below mark since 2008. Knox's 209 places him tied for fifth best all-time.

Oregon Tech (6-0 CCC) returns to the links September 25-26 as they travel to Eugene, Ore. for the final fall CCC tournament hosted by Northwest Christian University.
