Tech Takes Two Off Simpson

Klamath Falls, Ore.  – The Oregon Tech Men's Baseball team defeats Simpson University in both games of the double-header, by scores of 13-7 and 4-2 for the home team, on Tuesday afternoon at Kiger Stadium.
 
Game 1:
The Owls jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the 1st inning, bringing in 3 runs. Leading off, Blake Wrotenberysingled to 1st base and Justin Jordan was hit by a pitch. Josh Kallstrom found a deep single to right field which proved difficult for the fielder, sending the two runners across the plate and Kallstrom advancing to 3rd base. A hard driven hit to the infield by Austin Zavala brought home the final score for the inning.

In the top of the 2nd inning, the Red Hawks scored 3 runs off of a double, followed by a fielding error and illegal pitch.

The home team responded with a single run in the bottom of the 2nd inning with Micah Jio scoring from 3rd base on an illegal pitch.

Simpson University tied the game again in the top of the 3rd inning with one additional run, at 4-4.

Tech found their bats in the bottom of the 5th inning, picking up 7 runs on 7 hits, three of them being doubles, 2 base on balls, and batting through the order.
The home team continued to add to their tally with 2 runs in the 6th inning with the visiting Red Hawks adding 3 runs to their score in the top of the 7th inning. This would be the last runs scored of the contest, as the Owls win 13-7.

For the Owls, pitcher John Schulz picks up the win, now 4-3 on the season from the mound.
 
Game 2:

 In game two, Chase Wago picks up his 6th win of the season, now 6-2, while Tech wins 4-2 in 7 innings.

The bottom of the first inning proved to be enough for the Owls to pick up the victory, as Josh Kallstrom hit his 7th home run of the season, driving in 3 RBIs, scoring Blake Wrotenbery and Justin Jordan.

In the 3rd inning, Austin Florez flied out to centerfield, but sending a tagging Kallstrom home from 3rd base.

Simpson scored 2 runs in the top of the 5th, but Trask Telesmanich closed out the game from the mound, striking out 4 of his 7 batters faced. The final score 4-2 for the Owls.
 
The Owls will face the College of Idaho on April 8th, starting at 12:00pm (noon) and 3:00pm at Kiger Stadium.
