Pacific Power offers new Equal Payment Plan opt-out option

PORTLAND, Ore. — As part of a statewide metering upgrade designed to improve service to customers through shorter outages and hour-by-hour energy usage information, Pacific Power is providing an additional offering for customers who wish to opt out. As part of a final filing to the Public Utility Commission (PUC) of Oregon on Monday, March 11, Pacific Power will now offer a commission-approved Equal Payment Plan Opt-out option to help reduce monthly fees starting March 13.

Man Arrested by SWAT Officers After Assault and Barricade

In the early morning hours of March 12, Klamath Falls Police Officers responded to a call of a domestic violence assault in the 800 block of Mt. Whitney Street. A 43-year-old female victim and co-habitant of Michael Donnel Wilson, 32, made a call to Klamath County 9-1-1. She was found to be severely beaten and displayed facial injuries and was strangled during the assault.

Last Friday, Klamath County 9-1-1 received a call reporting Darrell Blackwell, 80, was stuck in the snow on an ATV near Saddle Mountain Pit Road in the Chiloquin area. Deputies responded but was limited due to the snow depth. Klamath County Search & Rescue (SAR) was then called in to assist in locating and rescuing Blackwell.

Jackson County, Ore. – Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) detectives believe a man investigated on child luring and abuse charges in Texas and in Jackson County may have more victims.  Robert Bernard Ernst, 38, formerly of Medford, has been in federal custody in Texas since the spring of 2018 after an arrest for enticement of a minor for indecent purposes.

Klamath County Museum’s Photo of the Week for March 10, 2019, shows a group of steamboats at the docks at Shippington.

All three of the steamboats seen here were built in Klamath Falls. Seen at the dock at left is the Eagle, constructed in 1908. Docked at right is the Modoc, which measured 60 feet in length. Its boiler was originally fired by wood, but was later converted to burn oil. The Wasp, seen paddling by the other two boats, was built in 1914. It was slightly smaller, at 50 feet in length.

On March 6, 2019 at approx. 8:17 AM, Klamath County Fire District No. 1 responded to the report of a structure fire in a home on Derby Place.
