Institutions earning the Military Friendly School designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey. In its 10th year, the Military Friendly school list is a standard for which higher education institutions provide the best opportunities for veterans and their spouses. This year only 766 schools earned the designation.

Money For Military Families

Students and staff at Peterson Elementary School wore red, white, and blue Friday for a good cause: to help local military members and their families.

For a $5 donation, students and staff could wear the patriotic colors. In all, the 660 students and 40  staff members raised $708 for the 173rd Fighter Wing’s David R. Kingsley Foundation, which provides funds for military families in need.

First Time: 173rd Fighter Wing hosts Secretary of the Air Force

Secretary of the Air Force Heather Wilson visited the 173rd Fighter Wing Nov. 3-4, 2018, marking the first visit by a sitting secretary since Kingsley Field opened its gates during WWII.

During her visit, Wilson had the opportunity to see firsthand the wing’s mission, which is the sole training provider of F-15C air superiority pilots to the U.S. Air Force. The base coined the phrase, “America’s air superiority starts here,” to describe a mission vital to the interests of the Air Force.
