The shelter will facilitate a variety of aquatic programs and help extend the outdoor season at Ella Redkey Pool by offering a heating element inside the open-air shelter. The space will offer a cool, shaded place to escape on hot summer days and a warm place to gather on cooler fall and spring nights.

Depending on the amount of moisture associated with the thunderstorms and the vegetation types on the ground, it can take several days for the smoke to become visible from a lightning-caused wildfire. Firefighters may be responding to new starts and holdovers throughout the weekend and early into next week.
