James Leroy Shelton
/James Leroy Shelton 79, of Klamath Falls passed away peacefully on Monday March 5th, 2018. James was born Nov. 19th, 1938 in Galveston, TX where he grew up and attended high school before enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps.
After his enlistment James was a Reservist for many years and then became active duty in the U.S. Army where he served as a Military Police Officer. James was extremely patriotic and very proud to serve our great country. After settling in Klamath Falls, Oregon, James met the love of his life Miss Carole Eagles in 2008 and they married in 2010 and spent 10 wonderful years together.
Not only did James love serving our country, but he also loved serving the Klamath Community. James volunteered for the Klamath County Search and Rescue Team and also volunteered driving senior citizens to their doctors’ appointments.
James also enjoyed building birdhouses out of wood and spending time with his wife and friends. James will be remembered as a very friendly, funny, patriotic, and a loving and caring individual, but what he will be remembered by the most is his humor. James truly enjoyed making people laugh and he will be deeply missed by his family friends and the Klamath Community.
James is survived by his loving wife, Carole Eagles-Shelton and his very special friends, Dave and Paige Basurto. A memorial service will be held with “full military honors” on Saturday June 30th, 2018 at 11am at Veterans Memorial Park, located downtown Klamath Falls.
