173rd FW Aircraft Accident

UPDATE: 6:45 PM, 5/15/23

As reported earlier, an F-15D experienced an in-flight emergency and exited the runway during landing at approximately 3:15 pm at Kingsley Field.

The pilot was the only one in the aircraft and exited the aircraft safely. Our team is currently responding with the assistance of local authorities.

We ask that the community please avoid the area to allow safe access for our responders.

We will provide an update tomorrow morning.

UPDATE: 4:20 PM, 5/15/23

KINGSLEY FIELD, Ore. – An U.S. Air Force F-15D departed the runway during landing at approximately 3:15 p.m. today at Kingsley Field in Klamath Falls, Ore. The aircraft was returning to base following a routine training mission.

The plane was assigned to the 173rd Fighter Wing. There was one crew member on board.

The pilot exited the aircraft safely and has been transported to SkyLakes Medical Center as a precaution and for evaluation.

A board of officers will investigate the accident. Additional details will be provided as soon as they become available.

At approximately 3:00 pm today, an F-15C experienced an in-flight emergency and exited the runway during landing at Kingsley Field in Klamath Falls, Oregon.

Emergency personnel are responding.

The pilot exited the aircraft safely and is being transported to Sky Lakes Medical Center for precautionary measures and evaluation.
