Bonanza man arrested following pursuit of stolen vehicle

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - At approximately 3:30 PM on February 1, 2021, Deputies from the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of a stolen vehicle spotted on Keller Drive near Oregon Highway 39 in Klamath Falls.

KCSO Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle. However, the driver fled the scene initiating a pursuit. KCSO Deputies along with officers from Malin Police Department continued pursuit making several attempts to stop the vehicle.

At one point, the pursuit was terminated due to public safety concerns.

A few hours late, at approximately 5:30 PM, officers from Malin Police Department located the vehicle and apprehended the driver, Matthew Carlton Drake Jr. (20).

Drake Jr. is being lodged at the Klamath County Jail on charges including:

  • Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle

  • Attempt to Elude

  • Outstanding Warrant x10
