Capital campaign reveal, fundraising for Ella Redkey Pool

The following is a press release from the City of Klamath Falls.

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Mayor Carol Westfall, Ella Redkey, and other City of Klamath Falls Staff, members of Friends of Ella Redkey Pool, and other community members gathered at the new Redkey Pavilion for the reveal of the 2021-2023 Capital Campaign. The campaign is a fundraising initiative to raise $150,000 for three transformative projects at the Ella Redkey Pool, including:

  • Creation of a Recreational Plaza and ADA Walkway

  • Replacement of the Waterslide

  • Continued renovations of the Locker Rooms

Parks Community Relations Manager John Bellon and Community Activities Supervisor Brielle George provided information about upcoming fundraising events while acoustic music was played, and tasty cuisine was enjoyed by event attendees.

Mayor Westfall shared insight about the importance of the geothermally heated pool amenity and noted that Ella Redkey Pool is the only outdoor, geothermally-heated pool in the United States that is open year-round. She thanked the Friends of Ella Redkey group for all their hard work and dedication to the Pool and noted how, through their support, there is an amazing newly built pavilion available for the community at the Pool.

John Bellon lamented about all the community members who have visited the Pool over the decades, when the Wendt Family remodeled the pool, put in the slide and several other upgrades, and to his own time spent growing up at the Ella Redkey Pool. He noted the need to increase the number of members in the Friends group to keep the pool alive.

Brielle George shared information about the individual projects and plan for raising $150,000. The Friends of Ella Redkey Pool are applying for grants with a goal of raising $100,000. The additional $50,000 will be raised through fundraising events and donations. There will be a series of fundraising events starting with the Open House this Friday, October 22 from 4pm – 6pm at the Ella Redkey Pool. The community is invited to view artistic renderings of the proposed pool improvements, enjoy live entertainment and refreshments while learning more about the Capital Campaign.
