KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Community Partners recently held a community baby shower for expecting mothers and families. The event included free resource booths, games, prizes, food, and more to prepare families for their babies on the way. This event aimed to help expecting families improve their babies’ health and offer a helping hand.

“This is the 5th Community Baby Shower Cascade Health Alliance has participated in. During the pandemic, we participated in two drive-through showers,” notes Rhonda Janecke, CHA’s Maternity Case Manager. “We had over 300 people in attendance this past Saturday, with 120 people completing surveys that will help us address Social Determinants of Health. Attendees got to meet the people who support and care for children and families in our county.” she added.

This community baby shower was informational and served pregnant women and their children up to the age of one. Resources were made available to address food insecurity, housing needs, isolation, childcare, transportation, substance abuse, mental health, and Medical/Dental/Vision needs.

This Baby Shower has the goal of supporting parents in our community to help with the health and safety of our youngest community members. It’s important to give expectant mothers and families the tools and wrap-around care they need to make healthy choices before, during and after pregnancy.

The shower was presented by the Early Learning Hub, Take Root Parenting, Head Start, Community UpLIFT, Hope Pregnancy Center, Sky Lakes Medical Center, Cascade Health Alliance, Klamath Early Childhood Development Center, Oregon Child Development Center, Klamath County Library, WIC, Public Health, Integral Youth Services, Outpatient Care Management, DHS and more. We appreciate the opportunity to come together and serve our community.
