KINGSLEY FIELD, Ore. – The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Flight out of Beale Air Force Base will conduct a controlled detonation tomorrow, during daylight hours.

The specific time has not been determined as it is dependent upon when flares can be removed from the F-15D aircraft involved in a ground mishap last week.  The 173rd Fighter Wing plans to update the wing Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/173FW/ with the specific time once a time is established.

Nearby residents should expect to hear one to three explosions from the detonations.

The EOD flight will remove the flares that are loaded on the aircraft safely dispose of it through a controlled detonation.

Flares are countermeasures used by military planes and helicopters to help evade a missile attack by an enemy aircraft.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Flight serves as a member of the Beale Air Force Base emergency response force and provides the ability to detect, monitor, evaluate, and dispose of explosive, radioactive, chemical, and biological weapons. Furthermore, the EOD Flight provides expertise to local, state and federal agencies in the form of Defense Support to Civil Authorities operations.

Community members may contact the wing’s public affairs office at 541-885-6677 to express any concerns they have during this time.
