Heavy Rain & Snows Expected for Southern Oregon thru Saturday Morning

Heavy Rain & Snows Expected

High mountains are going to get feet of snow. Snow levels will lower sharply behind a cold front, starting Thursday morning, and mountain passes may see a period of moderate to heavy snow Thursday morning.

The March sun angle should prevent snow impacts to roadways during the afternoon for elevations 3000 feet and lower.

We’re highlighting Friday evening as a time when moderate to heavy precipitation will combine with snow levels to bring widespread snow impacts to the forecast area.

Moderate with periods of locally heavy rain is expected tonight.

This will create the potential for debris flows and flash flooding along the Chetco Bar wildfire burn area. Coastal towns like Brookings could see some heavy rain and high rain rates which could lead to ponding on roadways at times.

Additionally, Mt. Shasta area will be seeing some heavy rainfall which could also produce localized ponding on roadways. The heaviest rain will occur overnight, so water on roadways will be difficult to see.
