Henslee announces candidacy for Klamath County Commissioner

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Friday morning, retired Klamath Falls Chief of Police, Dave Henslee officially filed candidacy paperwork with the Klamath County Clerk seeking election to fill the Klamath County Commissioner Position #1 seat being vacated January 10th, 2022 by Donnie Boyd.

Henslee has an impressive list of credentials that qualifies him to serve the citizens of Klamath County as a County Commissioner, overseeing the county’s multi-million dollar budget and in providing leadership to those employed to serve our community.

Over his 27 year career in law enforcement, Henslee earned many promotions ultimately serving nine years as an executive where he was responsible for developing and managing multi-million dollar budgets. Here in Klamath Falls, Henslee has received awards and recognition from political, business, and community leaders for leadership and achievements in providing public safety services, as well as, advocating and promoting our community.

In addition to his highly successful career in public safety, Henslee and his family started a small cattle operation, 5H Cattle Company, just outside of Merrill, OR.  He and his family love the rural way of life and find great pride in developing their brand into a symbol of trust and respect.

Henslee holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Oregon State University and has successfully completed continuing education courses in Public Administration from the Mark Hatfield School of Government at Portland State University and executive leadership training at the prestigious, FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

In announcing his candidacy, Henslee said, “I love this community and I love working to meet the needs of our community members. Over the course of my public service career, I have accumulated the professional skills, knowledge, and experience needed to effectively serve the citizens of Klamath County as one of the three chief executives that make-up the Board of County Commissioners. I will be able to hit the ground running from day one. I am committed to doing everything I can to make certain our community is well represented right here at home, but also in influencing the politicians in Salem and Washington DC to get out of our way so we can continue embracing the natural resources and rural way of life that makes Klamath the very special place it is.”

Henslee’s top three priorities as he enters his campaign are as follows:

  • Protection of our natural resources while ensuring water delivery to enhance the environment,  farming/ranching, and maintaining domestic wells.

  • Ensuring exceptional public safety for all Klamath County citizens.

  • Advancing the needs of Klamath County citizens at the state and federal level.
