KLAMATH FALLS, Ore – In the early morning hours of January 1, the Campos Family welcomed their new baby boy, Enzo Anthony Campos to the world as the first baby born in Klamath County in 2020 at the Family Birth Center of Sky Lakes Medical Center.

Baby Enzo could not wait to make a name for himself coming into this world 4-weeks ahead of schedule.

“This was the last thing I would imagine happening I was surprised that he was so early,” said Enzo’s Mother, Courtney Campos. “We were not expecting him for another 4 weeks. I went into labor on New Year’s Eve at 11:00 AM when my water broke. That is when we knew he was coming.”

“We are definitely excited, said Enzo’s Father, Mario Campos. “It’s kinda cool that he came on New Years.”

Baby Enzo was born at 1:30 AM, January 1, 2020, weighing 6 lbs, 12 oz. His length was not available.

Following an early delivery, Mom is doing fine. Baby Enzo requires a little extra help as his lungs were not fully developed and will be transported to the NICU in Medford for further care.

“[Enzo] is doing ok. Since he was born early, we have to worry about his lungs being underdeveloped and requiring oxygen,” said Courtney. “He is going to be transferred to Medford to the NICU at the hospital. so they can keep a good eye on him and take care of him, giving him what he needs.”

Sky Lakes Volunteers presented a gift basket to the Campos Family as the first boy born in 2020. A similar basket will be provided to the first girl born in 2020.

“It’s a little better elevation and they have better resources if something were to happen,” said Mario.

Five years ago, the Campos Family relocated to Klamath Falls from Ohio. Family members from Ohio are on their way and expected to arrive later today.

“They plan to discharge me [to travel with Enzo] which is amazing. It’s not even been 12-hours,” said Courtney. “That way I can stay with him.”

Enzo is Courtney and Mario’s second child. They also have a 13-month old boy named Wilder.
