KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - After completing a nationwide search and a rigorous evaluation of four top notch finalist candidates, the Klamath County Fire District 1 Board of Directors has made a conditional offer for the position of Fire Chief.

The Board voted unanimously to extend a conditional offer for employment to Greg Davis at the end of a special meeting held on the evening of February 6, 2020.

The offer for employment is contingent upon successful completion of a comprehensive background check, physical, and psychological evaluation.

Board Vice President Mike Jones stated that “Mr. Davis meets all of the critical criteria that have been identified by the organization to successfully fulfill this leadership position”.

Mr. Davis has not only a unique blend of experience that spans nearly 25 years in the fire service, but also holds multiple degrees in fire service technology and administration.  Having served four years at Kingsley Field Fire Department and then nearly 10 years as the Deputy State Fire Marshal for the area, Mr. Davis has a strong commitment and connection to the community and has established relationships with many community leaders and partner organizations.

As the hiring process progresses Mr. Davis will be working closely with the retiring Fire Chief, John Spradley who has been in the position since 2014.  Board President Gloria Storey stated that “The Board’s primary concern is to facilitate a smooth transition in leadership over the next couple months”.
