Keno focus of history hike

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Historic sites in the Keno area will be explored Saturday, May 14, during the 15th annual History Fitness Hike, cosponsored by the Klamath County Museum and the Klamath Falls YMCA.

A hike fee of $25 per person includes a T-shirt and a lunch at the end of the hike.

The hike route will include a stop at the Keno Cemetery for discussion of settlers in the area. Early-day hydropower production and management of water will be addressed at the Keno Dam on the Klamath River.

An optional detour will visit the site of an early grist mill beside the river.

The hike will cover about 7 miles over mostly level ground, with short sections over steep or uneven terrain. A support vehicle will be available. Most hikers should be able to finish the route by noon.

Deadline for registration is Friday, May 6.
