KLAMATH FALLS. Ore. - A misunderstanding between an angry patron and a bank employee leads to first responders answering to the US Bank on South 6th Street for a bomb threat.

On July 19 at approximately 2:06 PM a call came into Klamath County 911 reporting that the local branch of US Bank received threatening comments over the phone.

“The local office had been informed by an out-of-state US Bank Main Office that a customer made comments over the phone they took to be threatening and responded accordingly,” said Klamath County Sheriff, Chris Kaber.

US Bank was evacuated for a short period of time by the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office while additional emergency responders stood by in case needed.

The person who made the original comments to the main US Bank office spoke with a KCSO detective. The person readily admitted to making a statement while upset, but it was not meant to be a statement about an actual bomb.

The case remains under investigation.
