The following is a press release from the Klamath Tribes.

CHILOQUIN, Ore. - Today [5/10/21], the Klamath Tribes released the following statement:

The Klamath Tribes are disappointed in Judge McShane’s ruling denying our request for a preliminary injunction.

“We think the judge got it wrong,” said Councilwoman Willa Powless. “He gave Reclamation too much credit for its inadequate efforts to protect the C’waam and Koptu. But we will not relent in our efforts to hold Reclamation accountable for its failures to provide for the minimum biological needs of these critical tribal treaty resources.”

The Tribes are in the process of reviewing their options for next steps.

“We can’t sugar-coat this,” said Tribal Council Chairman Don Gentry. “It’s definitely a setback. But rest assured, we will continue to do everything in our power to ensure the survival and recovery of the C’waam and Koptu. They are too important to the Klamath people and our way of life for us to do anything less.”
