Lady Owls Split with Menlo

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Oregon Tech (8-4) split its double header Saturday with Menlo College (10-11) with the Owls winning game 1, 9-8 and Menlo taking game 2, 5-4 at Mission College.
 
Game 1, Oregon Tech 9 Menlo 8 (8 innings) 
 
Oregon Tech came from behind scoring 5-runs in the 5thand 3-runs in the 8th to erase an 4-1 deficit on the way to a 9-8 extra innings win.
 
Tara Moates hit an RBI triple in the 3rd to put OIT up 1-0.
 
Menlo scored 4-runs on 5-hits in the 4th to jump out to the 4-1 lead.
 
OIT took a 6-4 lead with a 5-run 5th highlighted by a Rachael Delamare 2 RBI triple.
 
Menlo tied the game at 6 with a pair of runs in the 5th.
 
The score stayed that way until the 8th when OIT scored 3-runs on 4-hits to take the lead 9-6.
 
Menlo rallied in the bottom of the inning scoring 2-runs on 2-hits but left the tying and winning runs on base as the Owls held on for the 9-8 win.
 
Tech's Kelly Scott improved to 5-1 on the year with the win in the circle.
 
Ali Graham had 3-hits to lead the OIT offense with Kiahna Brown, Moates, Andrea Sotelo and Olivia Lethlean all contributing 2-hits each in the win.
 
Game 2, Menlo 5 Oregon Tech 4
 
The Oaks jumped out to an early lead scoring 3-runs in the bottom of the 1st.
 
Oregon Tech would have many opportunities to score but left 8-runers on base only managing score a single run in the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th innings and eventually losing 5-4.
 
Kelly Scott was pegged with the loss in circle as she slips to 5-2 on the year.
 
Olivia Lethlean led the Owls with 2 RBI and three of the Owl 8-hits in the game.
 
Oregon Tech will now enter Cascade Conference play next weekend as they are scheduled to host Eastern Oregon University on Friday and Saturday at the OIT Softball complex weather permitting.
