Letter to the Editor by, Laura Campos of Klamath Falls

A leadership change is needed at the South Suburban Sanitary District! Kevin Harter and Michael Koger are two hard working individuals who will make a positive change for the SSSD.

Did you know that the current SSSD Board members have allocated and spent close to eight million dollars of our hard earned money to invest in farmland instead of upgrading the current systems to meet the Total Maximum Daily Loads requirements set by the DEQ? This DEQ requirement is at least 20 years old. It’s not a new requirement, yet the SSSD Board procrastinated in finding a plan, and instead continued to raise our rates only to become property managers instead!

Kevin Harter and Michael Koger both understand how to fix the problems that the SSSD created. As customers of the SSSD, and both having extensive experience in leadership skills, they understand that the SSSD needs to not only communicate better to their customers, but how to also develop plans that benefit the agriculture and health of the citizens of the Klamath Basin.

Please vote for Kevin Harter for SSSD Position 2 and for Michael Koger for SSSD Position 3. We deserve better
