KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - It’s been a busy day at the Klamath Falls COVID testing facility (2200 N. Eldorado). As of 10:00 AM this morning, cars had been backed up onto Eldorado/Dahlia as far as the fire station.

Sky Lakes will not have today’s tallies until tomorrow.

Testing numbers have been brisk over the last seven days, with more than 200 a day on four days last week.

“There has been a pretty dramatic increase in the number of positive cases locally and statewide. That has not yet resulted in a spike in hospitalizations,” said Tom Hottman, Sky Lakes Public Relations.

“On Friday there were 82 positive cases from 483 tests countywide, according to the OHA dashboard,” said Valeree Lane public information officer, Klamath County Public Health.

Lane adds, “The primary variant at play statewide is Omicron, which has much more mild symptoms than Delta. The nationwide projections are to see the crest of the Omicron wave in the next couple of weeks.”
