Colonel James R. Kriesel was promoted to the rank of brigadier general and assumed command of the Oregon Air National Guard in a ceremony, January 6, 2018, at the Anderson Readiness Center in Salem, Oregon.

As the Air Component Commander, he is responsible for mission readiness and operational effectiveness of two fighter wings (142nd Fighter Wing and 173rd Fighter Wing, Kingsley Field), special tactics and air control squadrons, and more than 2,400 military and civilian personnel.

Brig. Gen. Jeffrey M. Silver, outgoing commander of the Oregon Air National Guard, is scheduled to retire.
