Thousands line Main Street to Celebrate America; hundreds more attend free concert at Vet’s Park

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Thousands of spectators lined Main Street in downtown Klamath Falls today, for the annual Independence Day parade organized by the Klamath Freedom Celebration Series. The hour-long parade began when a pair of F-15 Eagles with the 173rd Fighter Wing provided a flyover above the parade route.

The VFW Color Guard was the first entry and the Klamath County Fire District 1’s ladder truck concluded the parade.

Some of the notable entries included the Disabled American Veterans, Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association, Cascade Civil War Society, Klamath County Museum, and Hillah Tin Lizzies. Numerous local civic organizations and groups were also represented in the parade.

Klamath County Fair Manager, Derrick Rowley was honored as the Grand Marshal for the parade.

Following the parade, the Klamath Falls Community Band played selections of traditional marches, folk songs, and other pieces of Americana representing and celebrating Independence Day. The concert included a special arrangement of the Armed Forces Salute, as well as the quintessential performance of John Philip Sousa’s “The Stars and Stripes Forever.”

The Freedom Celebration continues today, July 4, at the fairgrounds with extended festivities beginning at 4:00 PM and fireworks at dusk.
