LAKEVIEW, Ore. – Significant widespread precipitation received over the Poker fire in the last 24 hours has helped ongoing fire suppression efforts.  The Poker fire is now 98 percent contained with full containment expected on Monday, September 23, 2019.

The fire received more rain than expected.  Storms are predicted again for today and tomorrow.  Fire resources will continue to patrol secure the fire perimeter.

Area residents and visitors can report suspected wildfires by calling the Lakeview Interagency Fire Center at 541-947-6315.

As the weather changes, forest visitors are still asked to be careful with fire and anything that can throw a spark.  Campfires should never be left unattended and should be dead out before leaving.  This means drowned with water, stirred and be cold to the touch with no warm spots.
