A program on the history of highway construction in the Klamath Basin will be presented at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, during a meeting of the Klamath County Historical Society.

The meeting will be in the back meeting room of the Klamath County Museum, 1451 Main St. The program and meeting is open to anyone interested.

“We obtained some fascinating images from the archives at the Oregon Department of Transportation in Salem, and will share them during the presentation,” said Todd Kepple, museum manager and presenter of the program. “Some of the photos show scenes around town that we had not seen before.”

Photos show excavation and fills on the Lake of the Woods Highway near the Running Y Ranch, and on Spring Creek Hill near Chiloquin.

Other images show construction projects on Esplanade Avenue and South Sixth Street in Klamath Falls. Most of the photos are from the 1920s and ’30s.

In other business Thursday, the Historical Society will hold an election of officers for 2019.
