The following is a press release from the office of E. Werner Reschke, Representative for Oregon House District 56.

SALEM, Ore. - Oregon’s Polytechnic University designation was recognized today in the Oregon House. Representative E. Werner Reschke (R-Klamath Falls) led the way on the unanimous passage of HB 2472. As a chief co-sponsor of HB 2474, this bi-partisan bill designates Oregon Tech with a new description as Oregon’s Polytechnic University.

“This important distinction will help position Oregon Tech as an elite, hands-on institution of learning. Prospective students will see the advantages of Oregon Tech’s unique approach to teaching by learning both in and out of the classroom, and how this pays dividends as they enter the workforce or continue on to graduate school,” said Rep. E. Werner Reschke.

“Now more than ever, Oregonians must be fully informed of the access and success of opportunities in higher education. Oregon Tech has an impressive success rate of nearly 100%, when it comes to its graduates being employed or attending graduate school. This bill will help to make these opportunities more visible to all prospective students in Oregon and beyond,” said Dr. Naganathan, President of Oregon Tech.

Next, HB 2472 heads to the Senate and upon approval to the Governor’s office for her signature.
