The following is a press release from the Ross Ragland Theater.

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Ross Ragland Theater will be beginning their second series of youth summer theater camps for ages 10-18 starting Monday, July 25, and will run until August 12. Youth will be engaging with the theater Monday thru Friday from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM.

This education series gives youth the opportunity to deep dive into a full theater production on the Ross Ragland stage. Youth will learn all about the skills it takes to run a show both behind the scenes and on stage. Some areas of interest include learning about theater etiquette, staging, improv, making sets and props, costumes, tech work, and backstage crew. Whether the student wants to be on stage or work behind the scenes, there is a place for them in the youth summer camp’s production of Disney’s My Son Pinocchio Jr.

The summer camp is hoping to bring 60-80 students into this program. High School juniors and seniors may also apply for an internship and learn additional skills on how to organize, plan, and run a theater production.

The Klamath City School District will be giving out 12 scholarships to low-income students who wish to participate in the program. To apply for these scholarships please reach out to our Education Director.

This series will end with a final performance of Disney’s My Son Pinocchio Jr. On August 13, 2022, at 2:00 PM and 5:30 PM.

This musical show gives a new twist to the classic Disney story of Pinocchio. When a Fairy grants Geppetto's wish to bring his beloved puppet to life, the new father quickly learns that being a parent is full of challenges. He struggles to make his son "the perfect boy," only to lose him to a gang of troublemakers. It is only when faced with the thought of never seeing Pinocchio again that Geppetto truly learns the joys of being a father and loving his child unconditionally.
