Winter Weather Advisory continues through 1:00 PM Thursday.

Here is a different way of visualizing the snow forecast for our area today through Friday. Keep in mind timing and snow levels can fluctuate dramatically depending on many factors, including precipitation intensity. But, the bottom line is to be prepared for wintry travel mainly above 4000 feet today with snow possible all the way to west side valley floors again late Thursday into Friday.

The snow level drops to 2500 feet tonight with a period of moderate to heavy snow likely, especially along Interstate 5 near Mount Shasta and also in the mountains.

Precipitation becomes showery and rates briefly lower Thursday, but snow levels continue to drop as colder air moves in. Late Thursday through Friday, another period of moderate to perhaps heavy precipitation moves in with snow levels dropping to around 500 feet west of the Cascades.
