Snowflake Festival gingerbread house competition to be held at RRT

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - The Ross Ragland Theater and Klamath Snowflake Festival announce that the 2021 Annual Gingerbread House Competition will be taking place at the Ragland this December.

Open to individuals of all ages, participants have the chance to win gift cards from businesses around the Basin as well as tickets to our showing of the Balshoi Ballet’s rendition of The Nutcracker (December 21 at 7:00 PM).

The exhibit will open on the afternoon of the Mazama Winter Concert, November 30th. The houses will remain on display through December 20. Those interested in viewing the entries can do so by going to our box office during normal hours, 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday. To gain entry to the Ragland lobby please stop by our box office and our attendant will allow entry.

Judging will take place on December 20 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and will be closed to the public. Winners of all categories will be announced during our award ceremony on the 20th from 4:30 PM – 5:30 PM after the judges have finished making their decisions. Hot cocoa and cookies will be provided.

Competitors may enter any of the many categories, including:

  • Preschool/K (Under 5 years)

  • Elementary Grades (1st – 6th grade)

  • Teens (7th – 12th grade)

  • Adults (18+)

  • Organizations (Scout troops, other group projects)

RULES

  • All entries must be completely edible. Please provide list of all materials used in house/scene.

  • Gingerbread must be home-made (no pre-baked, pre-packaged or kit materials.) Construction using graham crackers, pretzels, cereal, or other edible materials is allowed!

  • All structures must be built on a STURDY platform such as a cutting board or heavy cardboard. All structures must be built on one platform not to exceed 18” x 24”

  • All entries must be picked up by Dec 21 @ 5:00 PM

PRIZES:

1st place for each category (Preschool – Adult) receives:

  • Ribbon + Gift card + Tickets (2) to the showing of the Nutcracker

SCHEDULE:

Entries Due: Monday, November 29 (Drop off between the hours of 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM)

Viewing: (Available to view during our box office hours, 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM Monday through Friday. Entry to the lobby can be made available through by speaking with our box office attendant. The doors will remain locked otherwise.)

  • November 30 – December 3

  • December 6–10

  • December 13–17

During performances and movie showings the lobby and viewing of the gingerbread houses will only be open to ticket holders. Tickets are available at or box office two hours prior to the start of any show.

Judging: December 20 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM (Closed to the public)

Award Ceremony: December 20 from 4:30 PM – 5:30 PM in the Ross Ragland’s lobby. Prizes will also be distributed at this time; entrants must be present in order to win. Hot cocoa and cookies will be available for your enjoyment.
