Friends of the Children was selected by Klamath Falls Subaru as their Hometown charity choice for the annual Subaru Share the Love event.

Through the power of mentorship, Friends of the Children addresses crucial societal challenges and drives greater equity, justice, and connection for the youth in our community who need it the most. By selecting children in kindergarten and staying with them through high school graduation – 12 ½ years, no matter what.

“We would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone in the community who purchased a Subaru during the Share the Love Event. With your support of the Subaru brand, you have made it possible to give back to the children in our community through the support of our Hometown Charity, Friends of the Children. We truly believe that giving back builds stronger communities and have always been impressed with the amazing impact this program has for our local youth.” Chris Bird, General Manager Klamath Falls Subaru.

"Klamath Falls Subaru has been a longtime supporter of our organization and is a true community partner!,” says Amanda Squibb, Executive Director, Friends of the Children Klamath Basin. “They embody how important it is to embrace our civic responsibilities, communities, one another – even our own selves to re-imagine the future.”

Squibb continues, “No matter the occasion, Klamath Falls Subaru is consistently there for our organization, whether giving in the form of monetary donations, or just giving of their resources and time. When youth are invited to join our program, we ask them and their parents/caregivers about their hopes and dreams (every great dream begins with a dreamer), and Klamath Falls Subaru understands and supports our youth’s passion to reach for the stars to change the world.”

Friends envision a world where the cycle of generational poverty and disadvantage are broken, and children are empowered to change their stories and create a better future for themselves, their families, and their communities.

Over the last 11 years, through the Share the Love Event, Subaru of America and its retailers have donated more than $140 million to national charities and over 1,170 hometown charities.

Klamath Falls Subaru had the opportunity to select a charity operating in their community to add to the list of organizations that new Subaru owners could select from to receive a $250 donation from SOA. Between November 16, 2018, and January 2, 2019 customers who purchased or leased a new Subaru selected from a list of four National charities or the retailer’s Hometown charity to receive a donation of $250 from SOA.

The National charities included, the ASPCA®, Make-A-Wish®, On Wheels America® and the National Park Foundation. Klamath Falls Subaru also opted to match a portion of the donation specifically for Friends of the Children.

The event included after-school snacks and an activity for kids. The check was presented by representatives from SOA and Chris Bird, General Manager Klamath Falls Subaru.
