A walking history tour of the North Ridge Estates subdivision will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, by the Klamath County Museum.

The event is free and open to anyone interested. In the event of inclement weather, the tour will be postponed.

North Ridge Asbestos Cleanup Completed

SEATTLE – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) are celebrating a multi-year asbestos cleanup completed at the North Ridge Estates Superfund site in Klamath Falls, Oregon.

“We’re proud to celebrate the successful completion of this important cleanup that will protect the health of the North Ridge Estates community,” said Acting EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler. “With our partners the Oregon DEQ, City of Klamath Falls, Klamath County, the Klamath Tribes, and others, we accomplished a major cleanup while boosting the local economy with local jobs and a restored community asset.”

Happening today in the parking lot of Kiger Stadium is a FREE hazardous waste collection event for household chemicals. This collection event is open to everyone and allows households to bring - pesticides, mercury, fluorescent lights, paints, solvents, motor oil, fuels, antifreeze, and so much more to be dropped off at no charge.

There are a few items they are not accepting at this event including - radioactive waste (smoke detectors), ammunition, explosives or sharps (needles, razors, etc).
