Fire District No.1 was dispatched at 2:15 pm today to a reported structure fire on the 3900 block of Shasta Way in Klamath Falls. The initial reports indicated an attic fire with heavy smoke showing. The single family dwelling sustained smoke and fire damage to the attic. No injuries to residents or firefighters were reported as a result of the fire.

Klamath County Fire District No. 1 swore in Matthew Hitchcock as the new Division Chief – Operations on December 4, 2017. Hitchcock and his wife Corie, along with Son Jacob and daughters Alicia and Olivia relocated to the Klamath Basin from Barksdale AFB, Louisiana. Mr. Hitchcock brings with him 22 years of Military Fire experience.

UPDATE - Cause is unknown at this time. No other structures were harmed in the fire. No individuals were hurt during the fire. Fire is contained and mop up will continue.

KCFD 1 Hires Six New EMS Personnel

Klamath County Fire District No. 1 (KCFD1) added six (6) new EMS personnel, Jades Ames (Paramedic), Colton Steinke (Paramedic), Layne Westwang (EMT), Justin Llanes (EMT), Jared Hooper (EMT), and Wayland Sherman (EMT-I). The new recruits started a two (2) week academy on September 1, 2017. At the end of the academy, a graduation ceremony was held on September 15, 2017, where the recruits were sworn in, received their badges, and their station assignments for continued training. The new recruits will allow KCFD1 to add a third ambulance to aide in responding to medical calls and transport requests.
