Hispanic Advisory Board Launches Cinco de Mayo Festival Website

In preparation for the 16th Annual Cinco de Mayo Festival, the Hispanic Advisory Board, sponsored by Lutheran Community Services Northwest, recently launched its website at cincodemayokfalls.org. The site is accessible in English and several other languages, including Spanish.
The Cinco de Mayo Festival will take place in downtown Klamath Falls on Saturday, May 4. The parade down Main Street begins at 11 a.m. and will be immediately followed by the fiesta at Veterans Memorial Park. The fiesta concludes at 5 p.m.
It is now easier to sign up to participate in the parade and/or as a vendor at this event. The website contains complete information about the festival; it includes downloadable or electronic registration forms as well. Forms must be received by April 24. Those interested in volunteering at the festival can submit their application through the website.
Also featured are the Latino Youth Dancers, a folkloric dance troupe sponsored by the Hispanic Advisory Board. The dancers are beginning their twice weekly rehearsals leading up to the festival. Boys and girls ages five and up with interest in joining the group are encouraged to consult the website for more information.
In addition, each year the Hispanic Advisory Board awards the Cinco de Mayo Scholarship to a junior or senior of Hispanic ancestry attending a City or County high school. For scholarship requirements and application form, or to donate funds to support the scholarship, please visit the website.
