KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Volunteers are being invited to participate in a flower planting work party from 9 to 11 a.m. on Monday, Labor Day, Sept. 3, beside Crater Lake Parkway.

The work party will be staged from the parking lot of Klamath County Public Health, 3314 Vandenberg Road.

“We expect to have hundreds of iris tubers to plant, and we can use all the help we can get,” said Susan Hendry, president of the Evening Primrose Garden Club, organizer of the project.

Local residents are invited to divide irises in their own gardens and bring extra tubers on Labor Day for planting along the Sutherland Trail, a new walking path that parallels Crater Lake Parkway.

“People can plant their own iris tubers along the trail, or donate the tubers for other volunteers to plant,” Hendry said. “Our hope is that the irises will establish themselves and provide a show of color along the parkway.”
